Strength training is much more important than cardio especially as we are getting older.
When it comes to strength training, many people might have negative association to body building and having lot of muscles.
Building muscle is not easy however as we age it becomes a necessity. Looking good and being lean is great, however if we shift our focus, we can see that muscles do so much more for our health and longevity.
Most people want to be able to enjoy activities with their friends and loved ones for many years to come. So what we teach our clients in the gym have a true carryover to real life activities, such as:
Walking without pain
Being upright
Being able to stand up from the floor
Bending
Picking heavy things up
Carry heavy objects
Walking uphill without short of breathe
Ability to jump
More muscles – better metabolism
